Dr. Sara Burchard
Dr. Burchard, a licensed psychologist, was a professor in the Psychology Department at the University of Vermont from 1977 through 2007 and served for over ten years on a multiple disciplinary mental health and social-educational faculty providing graduate training and statewide service to families and schools with children with neurodevelopmental challenges.
She has authored dozens of research papers and book chapters on successful rehabilitation practices and community mental health policies serving children, youth, and adults with developmental and mental health challenges, and developed and implemented a statewide program of training and consultation to group home and community mental health staff serving people with developmental disabilities.
Sara served on the Red Cross Disaster Mental Health Services, where she participated in the 9/11 Response. She has also served on the Board of Directors of many organizations, including Vermont Protection & Advocacy, the Howard Mental Health Center, the Burlington Boys & Girls Club and the Parent to Parent Project.
